VISIONThe Department envisions to equip the students to experience and assimilate the vistas of knowledge and skills through English language and literature.
HISTORYThe Department of English started functioning in 1967. In the beginning classes were engaged for the pre – degree students. With the introduction of undergraduate courses in 1969, the department engaged general classes for degree students too. At present the Dept. Engages 6 Common Courses for the Undergraduates of various Programmes. Each teacher engages 16 hours per week.

UGC SPONSORED WORKSHOP ON RE – DEFINING THE LEARNING PROCESS:NEW METHODS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
The English Department conducted a UGC sponsored workshop on Re-defining the Learning Process:New Methods in Teaching and Learning English Language and Literature on 8 and 9 December 2005. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr.P.Chandramohan, Vice-Chancellor of Kannur University, and the inaugural session was chaired by our principal Dr.M.Jeevanlal.
The workshop explored methods of treating literature in E.L.T.classes, symbiotic relationship between Linguistics and Literature, new trends in evaluation in E.L.T. Designing an innovative curriculum for U.G.students etc.
